Red Air Rules!

Who would have thought a few years ago that the Dassault Mirage F1 would become the go to aircraft for Red Air services? Well it looks like it will be a regular sight in our sky's as both Draken International and ATAC have selected the F1 variant to fulfill their Red Air obligations for the foreseeable future, Drakens are sourced from the ex Spanish Airforce fleet while ATAC's are ex Armée de l'Air; both companies new fleets are currently undergoing maintenance, inspections and being readied to fly. Draken have posted some great photographs and videos on their social media, here's a sample of them including a look at how they might be painted when complete.

Here in the U.K the private Red Air revolution is slowly gaining momentum, the RAF has issued requirements for their Red Air needs and it remains to be seen who among the current Contractors on the scene will win, in the meantime Hawker Hunter Aviation are providing airborne adversary services with their ever expanding fleet. You may of seen their freshly repainted Hunter at this years Royal International Air Tatoo(RIAT)at RAF Fairford, painting a veteran jet such as a Hunter in such a modern scheme is certainly going to get people talking, love or hate it its certainly different, and you better get used to it because they have just acquired a Hunter T.7 from Embraer in Brazil which is reported to be receiving a similar paint scheme! As if that's not enough they have also acquired two ex Luftwaffe F-4F Phantoms, one to serve as spares and one to be made flyable, apparently it will be at RIAT 2019!
