In the words of Topgun’s most famous student, Greetings 🖕🏼

To most people Topgun was a film about the mighty F-14 Tomcat and the fighter jocks who flew them, but if you’re here then I’m betting that like me you were rooting for the instructors in their diminutive A-4 Skyhawks?

That now classic film would’ve likely been most people’s introduction to the world of Topgun or the Navy Fighter weapons school as its officially known, and while Hollywood massively glamourised that world for dramatic effect the flying was very representative of the real thing. It certainly captured my young imagination and the instructors in their colourful, oddly painted aircraft stayed with me.

To modellers Aggressor aircraft are a treasure trove of colourful unique schemes that stand out on any table, I found myself wanting to build them again and again and that’s what eventually inspired me to start this Special interest group. This SIG is what you make of it, ideally my aim is to have a table at Scale model world in 2018 and hopefully over the course of the year the membership will grow and that table will be full of those aforementioned schemes!

A SIG is only as strong as its membership and I’m hoping those reading this can help to contribute, ideally you can all join me over on the Facebook group (link at the top of the page) as this the best way to stay connected and to get to know each other, that said I appreciate not everyone is on Facebook or would want to be, so I will use this blog to keep you up to date and try to post some great content from the world of Aggressor & Adversary aircraft. Please feel free to share any of your current or past builds that fall under the SIG’s remit and hopefully I can look forward to seeing them for real in the plastic next November in Telford.

Until then get building and remember... You never never leave your wingman!

Ben.S 😎
